A problem with hindering their oil sales is that it will make us weak. It would be self sabotage. I would rather focus on hindering sales of crucial components, resources and equipment to Russia.

The money Russia makes on oil sales is of no value if you cannot use it to buy useful stuff abroad. Exports are really only to finance imports. Money itself is just paper. Piles of paper does not make Russia strong.
