Absolutely, I agree with everything you say. I have tried to clarify this when I criticize the US, that I think a lot of what goes bad with American wars has to do with ignorance, arrogance and bad planning rather than deliberate malice. The US is not using terror against civilians as a deliberate strategy like Russia.
While some may argue that it differs little for those who loose their loved ones what caused it, I think it is still important to reckognize because many of the anti-Western crowd try to paint us all as power hungry evil crowd. When in reality we have often had noble goals but simply screwed up badly.
As long as there is a free press and democracy there si a chance to learn from these mistakes. Too many Russians will not get to know the truth of what their government is doing.
I do wish that the US let their soldiers comitting war crimes to be put on trial in Hague, simply because it would demonstrate to the world that we in the West take human rights serious and hold ourselves to the same standard as we hold others.
At the moment our moral high ground gets a bit undermined by the US not joining Hague. I want to see Putin put on trial when this is over along with many of his generals and officers.
