Actually the price differences between the US and Norway on gasoline is usually much larger. Price fluctuations here get moderated by a fixed high tax. That means rising oil prices doesn't cause as high percentage wise rise in prices here as in the US. Thus higher gasoline prices are not at politically potent here as in the US. Our prices are high but they are a lot more stable than in the US.

EV switch here is also encourage by very high price on gasoline cars. Taxes on gasoline cars can be 100-200 percent. That isn't a new thing though. Taxes has long been very high on cars.
