After the Trump election I started reading up on how the Nazis gained power and it is scary how many parallels there are. Yet the Americans making this happen are as you say so completely blinded by what is going on. The ones most strongly resembling the Nazis in ideology are convinced that the other guys are the Nazis.

Just like American Trumpists today the Nazis hated liberalism and socialism with a passion. A key reason they hated Jews was because many a Jewish intellectuals had helped promote both liberal and socialist ideas. Hitler hated Austria for its multiculturalism. Hitler and his ilk dreamed about a bygone era, just like Trumpists dream about som idolized 1950s America where men were men and there was not lots of gay and trans activists. Not all these woke people, and black people didn’t complain but knew their place in the pecking order.
