Ah nice to encounter a fellow Amiga fan. It was indeed extremely infuriating.

I remember we had an Amiga with a nice word processor. But my mom got this 286 with a monocrhome screen which cost a fortune to write for her newspaper. She could have used the Amiga, but the computer people who adviced her insisted that serious work had to be done on a PC. She struggled hard with remembering all the cryptic codes in this MS DOS word processor.

I was just a kid back then, I could really argue why an Amiga should be used instead. I just understood it as a got older what an idiotic choice that PC had been.

Actually I wrote more in detail about this in an earlier story: https://medium.com/lessons-from-history/a-world-without-the-ibm-pc-9db63c27b85e
