As a foreigner I keep being puzzled why Americans are so incapable of imprisoning obvious crooks and con-men. It seems like poor people enter prison on a conveyer belt but for the the rich it is an entirely different system used. Even the dysfunctional Weimar Republic managed to imprison Hitler and he hadn’t even rallied supporters to storm the Reichtag.
