As I said it will get ugly but these heat waves still are not able to kill people in large numbers. At the moment that is only close to equator for very small areas for very short times. Not enough to cause mass killing.

However if we keep at it, it is certainly possible that there will be mass death around equator, but if I have understood the assesments of this correctly, we are not remotely in that danger in Europe and the US. Yes older people may die, but most people can probably get through it.

That is not an argument against ignoring climate change of course or not dreading the future. I don't want massive heath waves. Even if they don't kill me, they will make my life miserable.

It is hard to grasp how people think the sacrifices to start a green transition today is too painful, yet are seemingly okay with terrible heat waves.
