Because it is cheaper in total. That is the whole point. Natural gas power plants are cheaper than nuclear power, and we know a natural gas operator will save money by building a windpark. Thus a natural gas power plant plus a wind park will be cheaper than a nuclear plant.

I don't think you fully appriciate just how insanely expensive nuclear power plants are.
