Cool I haven't really looked at them before. I must admit that while it is a cool approach I am less interested in that kind of tech as it doesn't offer any natural stepping stones towards human space flight.

This kind of system is going to give you a lot of G forces and air resistance. The appeal of rockets is that you can launch at much lower acceleration thus reducing air pressure and G forces.
