EllaKS while agreeing with a lot of what you say your remarks is quite strange to be honest. You highlight that salaries are higher in Calefornia while talking about Europe as if it was one country. What?!
The variations in salary are enormous without Europe. Much bigger than in the US. You cannot generalize Europe. I write specifically about Norway here which has a higher median salary than in the US.
The whole point here is that people visiting Norway will find it very expensive, but it is also a place with high salaries. If you are in say Poland prices will generally be way lower but so will your salaries.
Then again if you are in Switzerland salaries will be much higher again and so will a lot of the prices.
But the point I am trying to get across here in this article is that prices are not higher in an even fashion. Some thing get a lot more expensive while other things may stay the same of be cheaper.
But yeah I agree that if you are of exceptional talent you will likely make more money in the US, or just work in a very high demand profession. I think I concluded long time ago that I would make more money in the US than in Norway, but decided to stay in Norway because there are simply too many negative aspects to American society that I cannot deal with.
I love visiting the US as a tourists, and I would have loved staying there for say a couple fo more years, but I cannot imagine living there permantly. Would absolutely not want to send my kids to American schools e.g.
