Elon Musk’s take on population is both reckless and incredibly stupid. I have argued against this point before as well when he claimed we needed more people to innovate our way out of global warming.

It is akin to pissing in your pants to stay warm. You try to solve a problem by making the problem bigger.

We don’t lack people. We lack opportunities for hundreds of millions of people. Before adding lots of more people, let us improve conditions for those who live here right now. Future engineers and scientists are children who get to go to quality schools, live in safe neighborhoods, have enough quality food to eat etc.
