The point I tried to make was that complex technology takes longer time to master the mass production of. Without mass production you risk getting very high price. Bespoke products tends to expensive.

Cars are their core are well established and well understood technology. Yes we have added a lot of fancy stuff to them. However a basic car is not hard to make. I am talking in relative terms here. I would have been impossible for me personally to make a car. People have been able to make cars since the 1800s.

The first cars were extremely expensive and slow to make. It took many decades to develop mass production systems and make cars cheaply.
