How deeply ironic but not the first time. The world class math teaching in Japan was developed in the US. The US was simply not capable of implementing what they invented. Japan was.

Iceland solved its youth delinquency problem with methods tested successfully in the US. Iceland stuck with it for decades. The US shut down a successful pilot program.

The US does not lack talent or ideas. It lacks a functioning political leadership and state.
