How Did Elon Musk Become a Right-Wing Icon? Was it Deliberate?

The guy pushing solar energy and electric cars has somehow become a favorite among the FOX New crowd, how on Earth did that happen?

I AM a die-hard leftist but read a fair amount of right-wing news to understand better the mindset, philosophy and issues the other side cares about. Over the last years there are a few trends which has been interesting to observe. One is how Putin became so popular among the alt-right crowd. A leader of the country which the old conservative icon Ronald Reagan once called the evil empire.

Alt-right icons like Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump and Marine Le Pen have all fawned around Putin. But this all makes sense. Putin has pushed hard against Western liberalism ideals. He has promoted the church and anti-gay laws in his native Russia while promoting a macho anti-feminist and nationalistic culture which sits well with the alt-right crowd.

What looks far more puzzling is how a guy like Elon Musk became a darling of the alt-right: A guy who loves to read books, is really into fighting global warming with solar power and electric cars. How did he get so popular with a crowd that thinks global warming is a hoax, love their huge gas guzzling pickups. Reads tons of books, is an…
