I am highly skeptical of that. US history has thus far shown the opposite. Citizen gun ownership has a history of being used against minorities. It is relatively rare in comparison for marginalized groups to be protected by the 2nd.

Quite the contrary carrying a gun will often give police a pretext to claim they feel threatened and gun down the minority.

The ones who will most likely aid in a Trumpian power grab are the 2nd amendment advocates. Sure there are liberal gun owners but they are likely outgunned by the conservatives.

It was the same in Nazi Germany. Typical gun owners supported the Nazis, they did not stand up against them.
