I am not an expert on this so I just defer to what people who seem to know a lot about this have told me in the past. I cannot find the original quote I had in mind but here is one article: https://techjourneyman.com/blog/m1-roadmap/

The numbers they give is that the M1 has a 120mm² die. In contrast Intel Core i9 is about 200mmm²

Gievn the low watt usage of the M1, that tells me there is a LOT of room to expand with the current design. Maybe I am missing something, but I'd like to hear a compelling counter argument to this.

Btw I don't know what you mean by an 16B xtor. Could you clarify?
