I am not sure if that is a good analogy. Would you compare being born gay to being the victim of a sexual assault?

Is that not perpetuating the image of being gay as something wrong? Sexual assault is wrong, being gay is not wrong.

Society does not mock victims of sexual assault. in this regard the shame is a result of the humiliation one got exposed to. Being gay is not something done to you against your own will.

The way you come to terms with a crime committed against you and the manner in which you come to terms with being different from the majority are two very different things.

I don’t think one can ever reach a definite conclusion on this topic. What is discussed is so deeply personal and subjective. To me characterizing that you are gay as something one must simply accept, actually sounds quite negative. it makes it sound like something inherently negative that must simply be accepted.
