I definitely benefitted from living in the US in developing better smalltalk skills. It stayed with me for a few years but living in Norway one gradually becomes more introvert with time. I have heard Brazilians living here remark on this when going home for visits. Friends and family would ask if they were sick because they were so much more quiet and reserved than usual.
