I did use those briefly myself, but was never all about the CLI. I was quite into GUI tools early on. So on Linux in the early days I used gedit and kate I remember.

If I used CLI based editor it would be vim, but I never got good with vim. I switched to Kakoune. It is sort of like a friendly version of vim. It retains many strenghts of vim but focuses more on usability. It has more discoverable commands and help boxes. It is kind of for people who want a decently powerful editor but don't want things too complicated and isn't willing to invest a ton of time to learn how to use a new editor.
