I don’t need to like Elon Musk to admire his accomplishments
A common human psychological trait is to seek to minimize or trivialize the accomplishments of people they don’t like or approve of, but even assholes can achieve great things.
FOLLOWING the stories around controversial people over the years I have noticed certain patterns: If a person is unlikable or in some ways have offended your sense of moral right and wrong, then you will seek any negative slanted article, story or news which will confirm that viewpoint.
Interestingly the opposite seems true as well. Negative stories will be ignored and focus will be on the positive stories. This is human nature and we all susceptible to it.
I think that is why people have such divided view on Elon Musk today. They have formed an opinion and want to reinforce that. There are in fact many negative stories about Elon Musk. Recently I read: “I Was a Starter Wife”: Inside America’s Messiest Divorce.
In it Justin Musk talks about her life with Elon Musk. His behavior puts him in a really poor light in my opinion. He clearly did not view his wife as an equal:
