I don’t think it is all weird. We have had some really high profile accidents and governments and industry have not always been honest and transparent about the issues. With Fukushima there was previous accidents that got covered up. Numerous safety recommendations over many years not followed up or implemented.

I am a cautious skeptic. There is a growing pro-Nuclear movement and I think one should be reasonable and not dismiss it out right. In particular I think SMRs is something is something we should be positive to.

In fact I would love to see more funding for these if it could mean decommissioning old reactors and replacing with something like SMRs. We could even use existing reactor sites.
