I feel I am missing an opportunity having you as a reader. I am quite interested in the developments in Africa.

Do live there now, and in what country? What is the tech scene like? What kind of companies? What to people think about software development? Is it a popular job for those with aspirations?

How do you get into such a job? Can anyone go to university and study to be a software developer or does it cost a lot of money? Or is it more about getting good enough grades, getting a scholarship or something like that?

I am sorry if these are silly questions. I don't have a good grasp of what middle class life is like in Africa today. And I suppose there is no single answer to that. It is I guess like asking what middle class life is in Asia or Europe. I would assume there are huge variations between each country.

I have speculated with my wife on a number of occassions that African countries would eventually try to follow in the footsteps of India and build up a large outsourcing industry.

Then there is of course the question of China. Eventually manufacturing will get too expensive then. Will Africa then try to enter manufacturing or is services a more natural fit?

Maybe you have made some reflections on these questions at some point?
