I guess people are different. I have always found the appeal of web technologies for application development to be a puzzle.

The whole thing comes across as a bloated hack to me.

If people like the web thinking of development, then I would think QML, SwiftUI or perhaps even XAML, would give a better experience. At least these toolkits where specifically made for GUI development and not a repurposing of a system for creating documents.
