I have looked a bit at these New Suburban places. They remind me of classic towns from earlier periods. However they still seem to miss what I think is a crucial point in the design of Norwegian neighborhoods, which is structuring the Neighborhood so that cars are kept outside. I clarify the details better here: https://erik-engheim.medium.com/organization-of-norwegian-suburbs-1391e557c7fd

New Suburban places that I have looked at, still seem to put a drive way and garage by every house in the classical American style. Or they do more of the continental European style of having street parking.

The Norwegian approach is kind of different however in that cars are section off. You have a shared garage area for all the cars, even if you live in a villa. Not everything is like that in Norway of course. There are all sorts of styles of neighborhoods.

But I would say this kind of sectioning of is very common, while I have never seen it in all my travels in North America. The exception would be large apartment complexes in high rises, but that is kind of a different thing and usually not made for families with kids.
