I have looked at it. It almost looks a bit too ambitious to me. Looks like a LOT for a small team to pull off.
Momentum plays a role too. I remember liking D a lot year ago but it never went anywhere. For whatever reason it seems like Zig actually managed to get some real momentum going.
I suspect Vlang needs a couple of more years to tell whether this has a future or not.
Ironically Vlang is much more like that language I want than Go or Zig. It seems to combine the best of both worlds. But I haven't tried building anything in it, so I don't know what it feels like in practice.
