I hope you don’t think that of all leftists. I am very much a leftist myself and cannot stand it. It seems to me however that it varies with within different cultural contexts. This extreme focus on skin color seems far more pronounced in America than my native Norway.

We are very leftist in Norway, more so than the US, but this whole “whiteness” and “white privilege” debate going on in America today is rather absent from Norwegian political discourse.

A key reason is that while the dominant culture and majority in America is described as white, it is described as Norwegian in Norway.

Hating on Norwegians would not go down well in Norway, which despite being very leftist is also very patriotic and proud of our heritage.

In America people can openly argue about ending whiteness, but you could not argue against ending Norwegian cultural identity without a wall of condemnation from all political factions. Hence it is not a problem I face in Norway but in an American online context, the fact that I am white seems to frequently become a liability.

It is ironic that a lot of the anti-white crowd supposedly push for a more diverse world, yet they exclude any perspectives which are not American.
