It should be clear if you read the article, that it is not a survey or study. Rather it is an answer to common question based on the assumption that the premise of the question is true.

I made the case with some various well known scientists that there are reasons to believe there is some truth to the assumption. But I am sure if you want to dig into this question further, there is research done on this. Medium is however generally not a Journal publication site if that is what you are looking for.
