I think there was always issues with Elon Musk but I am convinced that some time before he bought Twitter his descent into madness had truly began. Even people who know him say they don't reckognize him. He has very clearly become a worse person and losing grip on reality.
But regardless of that my admiration for Elon was not around his humanity. I wasn't looking to him as a spiritual guide for how to be a good person.
Rather it was about what he achieved in terms of revolutionizing the car industry and the rocket industry. Those were real achievements. Much like how Werner von Braun also revolutionized rocketry despite being an SS member working for the Nazi regime and using concentration camp slave labour.
The inventor of the transistor Shockley was a racist piece of shit. Yet that doesn't change the fact that he invented the transistor. Anyone into tech who learned about his invention might admire him at first if they didn't know he was a racist.
I simply didn't know the extent to which Elon Musk was bad, partly because the media had not really clarified that in the early years and secondly because I simply don't think he was quite as bad then. I do believe humans can go both good and bad.
About a year ago I shock hands with a man I used to talk about with my brother as a vile scumbag. He was a cruel violent gangster. Somehow he turned his life around and started helping minority kids stay out of gangs and get their life on track. There are a lot of people like that. You can find Neo Nazis that became good people.
If a bad person can become good. Surely a good person can become bad. Honestly I don't really know what was truly in Elon's heart. Or what is childhood was really like. But personally I think he got infected by the anti-woke mind virus. Quite ironically.

I think Elon Musk is an example of this. In his anger towards the "woke mindvirus" he got infected by the a far more potent strain of the "anti-woke mindvirus"
