I totally understand your rational for using C++ and the platform you currently use. My criticism of C++ is more directed at people who have a choice. I would not try to rewrite VTK, Qt or some other huge C++ project to another language either if I maintained it.

I also do get your issues with Linux, which is why I primarily use Mac. But Linux is my usual second choice as a lot of the command line skills and tools are transferable between Mac and Linux.
