I wasn’t really trying to make a point. It was a story about my own political journey. I was not trying to make a technical point about government. I was trying to convey some of the emotions around national identity and heritage.

But I agree that the story was all over the place. However I still don’t actually know how to tell the story. I’m not even sure if I know what story I am trying to tell. writing is a way for me to clarify my own thoughts to myself. In this case I got further, but never reached full clarity.

One can explain the benefits of a monarchy in theoretical terms in just a few paragraphs. Explaining one’s own preference for a particular monarchy, in a particular country and context is much harder.
