Indeed but the problem for Ford is that Tesla is eagerly investing and researching better battery chemistry while Ford and others are waiting for a third party to magically solve it and sell them a superior battery. Ford and others are just not putting any skin in the game.
Tesla is far more aggressive about staying ahead of the curve and try new things. That the most conservative and slowest moving company should somehow win this tech race just seem strange to me.
In an industry going through a massive change legacy companies are not the most likely winners.
