Interesting read! I am Norwegian but have been a lot around Asians. I definitely notice the much stronger ambition pushed by Asian parents.

But I think what would puzzle many Norwegians is how dependent many Asians are on their parents. Stuff a Norwegian would be embarrassed to have their parents take care of.

And that is where I see a major difference in emphasis on how children are raised. Asian parents emphasize ambition while Norwegian parents emphasize independence, and braving the elements.

While Norwegian parenting is quite mild mannered I know some foreign parents think it is a bit cruel how we tend to push kids out into any kind of weather, whether raining or ice cold.

I am very impressed by the success of Asians here in the West but I don’t think I would want to put my kids through it.
