Interesting that pretty every single point mention here is exactly the same in most Northern Europen countries.

1. Take off your shoes. Yep, do that in Nordics as well. If you didn't with our climate it would be an utter mess.

2. Hmmm... not sure about this. We have snacks usually, but don't Americans as well? Potato chips, peanuts, popcorn etc?

3. I think everyone outside the US struggle with American portions. I am used to finnishing my plate, but found that next to impossible to do in the US without getting stomach pain. I found it interesting how American ads for restaurants almost always focused on how MUCH food you get. America seems very quantity over quality oriented.

4. Ah yeah, I was surprised how little books Americans have or how rare it is to just read regular newspapers. But e.g. here in Norway reading is strongly encouraged politically. I was surprised when I heard Joe Biden encouraged people to put on the TV and radio to have children pick up language. Not in a million years anyone would suggest that in public in Norway. A politician would always emphasize the value of books.

5. This varies, but at least in the Netherlands that is very common.
