Just because all the young hipsters use JavaScript and Python doesn’t make either language modern. This is more a case of old languages not being able to keep up with the times. Modern would be stuff like Julia, Rust, Swift and Go which all support pre-emptive multitasking, otherwise know as threads.

I don’t use Kotlin and Clojure but pretty sure they support threads well too.
