Maybe you are right, but I simply would assume that people know that Fascism was not exclusive to Germany. For the argument I was making I don't think where exactly Fascism arose was the key point. The point is whe had Fascism in some areas and the rest of us managed to stamp it out.
It is different if you had a large centralized state like China. A Fascist ruler would then then control everything without any simple way of mounting an opposition. It is to be fair a worry I have about the US. It seems like a too large and powerful state to me. Should the US get the wrong kind of leader it could go very wrong for everybody. I would have preferred if the US was something like 3-4 countries instead. Then each time somebody like Trump gets elected you can at least have the benefit that some more sane president is running things in the other 2-3 countries.
