As I have been writing my own stories on various aspects of medieval and renaissance history, I have come across many different interesting sites and channels I would like to share.
Shadiversity
Shadiversity, is one of my all time favorite youtube channels. The host Shad is just a really likeable and entertaining guy, who provides very well researched and balanced content. He covers a wide variety of topics. Here are some examples:
- Why do medieval buildings overhang their lower floors? — Notice how the higher up floors are larger than lower floors? Shad gives really interesting explanation of this.
- STUPID things people say about medieval SWORDS — Shad addresses a lot of misconceptions about European medieval swords. E.g. the idea that they were sort of like blunt clubs and had no sophisticated martial arts like say Japanese Samurai swords.
- How many GOLD COINS could an adventurer carry?
