No, Ford Is Not Going to Kill Tesla

The failure of pundits to understand the Tesla advantage over legacy automakers.

Pundits love to predict the doom of Tesla. For years they have claimed that as soon as the traditional automakers begin making EVs Tesla will be doomed. I remember when pundits predicted that Porsche was going to kill Tesla with their Porsche Taycan or Audi was going to do it with their E-Tron. Honestly I have lost track of all the predictions over the years.

Lately Al Anany wrote a story on medium titled: Ford might have just killed Tesla.

Why does Al predict Ford will win where all the others have failed? Actually he does not contrast with other failures but simply take it for granted that time is on the side of legacy automakers.

What’s going on is similar to you creating a new electrical bulb that’s fascinating. However, will you be more successful than Samsung or Philips in the long run? Simply put, they know how to handle the supply chain of such an industry in the long run, compared to you. They’ve won over fiercer competition once they were in the same ring. At this instance, we can’t say that Ford’s EVs are in the same ring as Tesla’s, but they’re for sure warming up.
