No, that is simply not true. I can quote numerous people who have worked close with Elon Musk who will tell a very different story.

I have seen the kind of baseless claims that Pilar and yourself push here so many times for such a long time, that I deliberately wrote this article as a counterpoint: https://erik-engheim.medium.com/is-elon-musk-just-a-sales-guy-9d3eb7a1b49c

It contains plenty of links to sources and credible people who will vouch for the competency and skill of Elon Musk.

This idea that somehow Elon Musk is only good for throwing expensive parties is just ridiculous. Just because he is a jackass doesn't mean he cannot have great talents.

This is some odd human mental flaw that we cannot seem to accept talents of people we don't like. I have seen this over and over again.

I remember thinking that Hitler couldn't paint or draw at all given how much his artistic skills got mocked.

When I actually got to see his paintings I remember thinking that he was way better than I had imagined. Sure, he wasn't someone who would have become a famous painter, but he was still better at drawing and painting than the vast majority of people.

Another person which could be compared to Elon Musk is Steve Jobs. He was also a bit of an asshole and numerous people also insisted he didn't really have talents beyond showmanship. Again a ridiculous claim. You just don't build companies like Apple or SpaceX by just being a good talker or showman.
