Oh yeah, I am hoping somebody in Hollywood picks up on the Venus ranting from me and other Venus fans and make some kickass science fiction series. Maybe a Netflix series set on Venus with cloud cities, fluidics and pneumatics driven computers and equipment.
I really miss seeing something alternative or different. All too often sciencie fiction means the technology is organic or something.
I think it would have been interesting with a high tech world built on other principles than our electrical one.
I keep imagining this kind of setting where every planet is using specialized technology tailored to their specific conditions.
E.g. a moon colony would likely not have much plastic because that is hard to obtain without carbon. However metal and stone based stuff would be easy to make. Venus colonies would be opposite. Growing things and as well as making things from plastic would be easy.
If you watch something like Star Wars the techonology does not seem to be connected in any way to the realities of the planet people are on.
I began trying to write a Venus colonization novel, but I gave up. Since Andy Weir who wrote the Martian was a former software developer like me, it kind of inspired me. However he had way more practice writing novels.
