Putin isn't killing Ukranians because he asked for our permission and we said: "Yes, sure Mr. Putin go kill as many Ukranians as you like."

No, Putin just went and did as he pleased, and it matters little what we think of the matter or what we tell him.

Ukraine can keep fighting Putin and we can keep aiding them with weapons. Yet this will be a long drawn out fight with no certainty in victory.

I am not advicing anything I would not have suggested for my own country. Had Russia began a brutal shelling and destruction of my own native Norway with no foreign intervetion in sight and victory far away I would prefer ceding some land to Russia over having the whole country destroyed.

It sucks to give up land, but I would rather have a smaller Norway in peace with towns that are still in order, people still fed and alive than to cling on to every inch of Norwegian land.

You always have to fight, but at some point you have to make up your mind whether continued resistance is woth it in the long run. Big powerful nations like the US can afford to never give up because they know they are big and powerful enough to win in the end. But for those of us in smaller countries we know there is a very real possiblity that we will not survive a prolonged fight.
