Sounds like an absolute luxury. I get absolutely incomperhensible walls of code with zero comments, and the guy who wrote it left the company 10 years ago. Fun times to decipher that.

Somebody leaving code with "too many comments" would be something I would regards as somewhat of a luxury.

If you got comments they can help you actually do the refactoring.
