Stop Merely Being Angry and Start Demanding Concrete Changes to Police Procedures
It goes to show that outrage isn't enough to bring change. There needs to be a stronger focus on changing police training and procedures in the US. If shooting somebody in the back with multuiple shoots who is not a threat simply because they are not obeying the police is standard procedure with the police department, then surely there is an issue with the procedure.
It is my belief that at the heart of the problem with US police brutality are zero tolerence inspired procedures that emphasize immediate compliance and obedience.
Shooting a man simply disobeying who is no threat to the police or anybody else, should lead to a murder trial in my opinion.
"He should have simply obeyed" is not an excuse. There will always be people who for some reason don't obey. They could be mentally handicaped, deaf, don't understand the language etc.
There are plenty of cases in fact where people fitting these descriptions have been brutalized by US police.
Stop the zero tolerance crap. Instead there should be zero tolerance for shooting unarmed people who are no threat whatsoever.
