Strange then how the least collectivist Western society, the US, is also the most violent with the strongest police state tendencies. A brutal police force and draconian justice system. A country that imprisons more people than any other nation including the most oppressive dictatorships.

Meanwhile collectivist countries like the Nordic ones rank at the top in all measurement on individual freedom, democracy, respect for human rights, press freedom.

I am sure that this is how the world is in fantasy stories like Ayan Rand's books. But the real world does not match your concepts of collectivism.

Collectivism can exist on many levels. It does not need to expressed through the state alone. Housing cooperatives, farmers cooperatives, consumer cooperatives, labour unions, wind turbine cooperatives etc are all expressions of collectivism at the grassroots outside of the state.

Collectivism is one of the most natural aspect of human existence. We are social animals. We have since the dawn of time organized into larger social groups such as tribes. We are stronger together than alone. The lone wolf dies, the pack survives.

Individual freedoms does not need to be weakened by collectivism. Quite the contrary it is often strengthened by it. He who stands alone with no support around him, has little freedom to pursue his own individualistic desires. In the Night-watchman state each individual exist at the mercy of powerful individuals and corporations. Bounding together lets the weak many protect against the strong few.
