Thanks! Awesome to hear you read Grabber too. That book about Debt was really inspirational for me. I was leaning on his work actually in my descriptions here about debt-based trade.

I used to be into crypto currency, specifically a system called Ripple which I had conference talks about. It was basically a debt based system and Graebers book helped me see all that in a much bigger picture and understand while debt based currency actually makes a lot of sense.

The idea of Ripple was to mimic what David Graeber describes: You create trust networks. So money is transferred by exchanging IOUs between people who trust each other. But by setting up who you trust in an electronic system they could mix and match to make it work on a much larger scale than old villages.

Sadly the system never really took off. I have mostly gotten very cynical about crypto currency. Once a lot of hope and now so much has turned into get-rich-quick scheme.
