Thanks for the link. I suspect this will be different for a number of reasons:

1. Launch costs are much lower today than back then.

2. Cell phone usage much higher. There is simply a much larger market for this thing.

3. Starlink is already up and experiences for users seems to be quite good.

Of course all of this is risky and they may never make a Tesla phone. However my interest was primarily in analyzing whether making a phone makes any sense for them.

Upon first hearing "Tesla phone," it is easy to think it is one of Elon Musk's latest things he just throws out there without much thought.
