Thanks, it would have been interesting to hear your experience. Does my hypothesis hold true? You get lower material wealth in Germany but better work-life balance and less stress?

I also have the impression that the American middle class is pushed to live a bit beyound their means to get into all the right neighborhoods with the right schools. While in Europe you can often live in a more modest neighbourhood and still get access to decent schools, low crime etc.
