Thanks, yeah your analogy with evolution is something which was on my mind when writing this. Evolution usually evolves from where they are. They don't start anew. Hence a Dolphin doesn't handle marine life like a fish, because it evolved from a mammal which spent life on land.

Likewise different cultures go down different trajectories early in history and later get somwhat forced to continue those trajectories. Completley changing the writing system to fit printing would not have been an easy modification.
