There are a lot of things I don’t like about Elon Musk. Here is a critical article I just wrote about him. Maybe we agree more:
I find Elon Musk to be far too anti-government. Reckless in his remarks on things like COIVD19. I think he often shoots from the hip without thinking through things. Or at least when it applies to things outside his area of expertise.
I just find that people focus on entirely the wrong things about Elon Musk. It is akin to people focusing all their efforts on talking about how bad Donald Trump’s heirdo or suit is while no time is allocated to how he defrauded banks, treated employees and subcontractors like total shit. Cheated on his taxes etc.
What Elon has said about COVID19, how he treats workers, the view he pushes around government is something which ought to be criticized. I think focusing on his money from NASA e.g. is an utterly bizarre complaint. He is taking way less money from NASA than any other space company while delivering far more to them. NASA is getting the best deal they have ever gotten in history from him. Why on Earth should he be attacked for that?
Doesn’t pay fair share of taxes? Unlike people like Donald Trump, he hasn’t setup specific schemes to defraud the authorities. He has simply not sold stocks, which means you don’t pay taxes other than estates or salaries. He isn’t doing anything different from any other investor. So I don’t get why he is singled out. The problem is not specific to Elon Musk. It is specific to how we tax rich people. It could be solved with e.g. a wealth tax. But nobody proposes that. They just rail against Elon Musk without offering any solutions.
