It shows relative change in GDP from 1917 (start of USSR) until the mid 1970s when the USSR was doing quite well before they began excessive overspending on military, Afganistan etc.

From 1917 to 196, the GDP of the USSR grew around 490%, while the US it grew 180%. In the periode before under the Russian Czar development was quite flat.
