True, but they will have problem fitting into a world not designed for composing different tools but for monoliths.

Say you make a new and better file manager. Who cares, since the monoliths have done away with file management for most users.

Say you invent a better email reader. How much traction will it get? Gmail and others bundle their mail UI with their mail service. Everywhere you look companies are building entirely self contained little universes.
